project management

What you don’t realise

When people think of interior design, they often picture mood boards, beautiful finishes, and that final, styled reveal. But what’s often overlooked—and arguably one of the most valuable parts of the interior design service—is project management.

Behind every cohesive design is a long list of decisions, timelines, trades, budgets, and approvals. My role goes far beyond selecting a stone benchtop or tile layout. I’m managing the sequencing of trades, navigating lead times, tracking variations, and coordinating with clients, builders, joiners, and suppliers—often while adjusting to real-time issues that arise onsite.

This is where my clients truly feel the benefit. Because they don’t have to chase deliveries, resolve scope gaps, or mediate between contractors. They don’t have to keep track of what’s been ordered, when it’s arriving, or if it fits with the electrical plan. I do that—while protecting the design integrity, budget, and their peace of mind.

Here’s what that really means in practice:

  • Coordinating every layer of materiality and cabinetry with trades to ensure the design is executed exactly as intended

  • Managing scope changes due to things like tile availability (yes, that’s happened!) without compromising the vision

  • Communicating with architects and builders during planning stages to integrate interior decisions early

  • Reviewing joinery shop drawings, lighting layouts, and build details to catch issues before they’re on site

  • Working with high-end suppliers like stone and furniture suppliers to align selections with lead times and project goals

  • Taking responsibility for sequencing decisions so your site keeps moving, even when surprises come up

So if you’re thinking of working with a designer, know that what you’re investing in is more than a visual result. It’s the behind-the-scenes decisions, checked details, and solved problems that get you there.

Collaboration is where the magic happens. I’m energised by the process of working alongside great people to create great outcomes—thoughtful, practical, and beautiful interior solutions.
